"But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever. For what You have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good." Psalm 52:8-9

Trying new things!

Every since keeping up with the Facebook page Little Olive tree has been a great success! I am so thankful for all the support because it has been a blessing in my life! It sure is nice to have the extra finances to help out. Over the past few months we have added several items to Little Olive Tree. There are different hair bow styles, new hair bow holders such as wreaths and picture frames with hooks, bibs, nursing covers, burp cloths, new wipe box designs, pacifier clips, and more! I am so thankful for the stores that are allowing us to sell Little Olive Tree in their stores! Yesterday we restocked Baby's First Gifts in down town Lexington Virginia. I will be adding more to the store in the next couple months. I also want to thank my customers for being so patient with me. I love running my own business but at the same time I am a wife, mother, and student. It can be hard juggling things at the same time but I am very appreciative of how patient customers are in receiving their items. I try to ship items out with in 24 hours of the order. All items are made to order. I do not have a stock pile of items. So when you order a wipe box or hair bow holder it gets made to your liking. I like how this process works because this gives you a chance as a consumer to design your own! If you are like me, you like your items to be unique. I believe we are all creative because we are made in the image of our Creator.

Update

It has been a long time since I have updated LittleOlivetree.com. I have been super busy being a Full time mom, wife, student, and crafter! I Love doing what I do but sometimes it can become a little hectic around here. Over the past few months I have done a few consignment sales and selling stuff in stores to help keep things up to par in finances! It is amazing how God has provided everything in his perfect timing. I am so thankful for all the purchases that my family, friends, and followers have made over the past year and a half. I want to make sure that the items you get are of good quality and something that can be used over and over. I was just at a recent consignment sale and saw a used Wipe box that I sold to a customer over a year ago and it was still in excellent condition! It makes me happy to know that my products are being recycled and can be used more that once!
In October of last year I started a Facebook page, but I didn't get a chance to upload pictures until a month ago. Facebook is the best way to see Little Olive Tree's newest products and it's the quickest way to get ahold of me. I have added several new items and I do custom orders. Thanks so much for all of your support!

Little Olive Tree's Beginning!

I realize that some people who look at my blog may not know the reason that I developed Little Olive Tree. So I would like to share the reasons that led to this endeavor. When I was a sophomore at Liberty University at 19 years old on December 3, 2007 I found out that I was pregnant. At my routine 16 week OB's doctor visit my doctor found a large lump in my throat. After ultrasounds and biopsy's the results were inconclusive so the doctors decided to wait until my baby was born to do surgery to remove it. My son was born on August 6, 2008 and then on October 24, 2008 during surgery the surgeon found that the lump was papillary cancer. He removed the entire thyroid and my parathyroids and set up a treatment for radioactive iodine. Two weeks before the treatment date I found out I was pregnant with my second child. The treatment had to be delayed until the baby was born. She was born on 7-19-09 and I finally received treatment on July 1 2010. The doctors felt that since I was extremely fertile I needed to be on birth control because I had just had a radiation treatment. On November 17, 2010 I had a moderate stroke as a result of taking the birth control. I lost 50% of feeling in my left side and the doctor's did not feel I would get all the way back to normal but would be functional. I could barely walk. After 2 months of physical and occupational therapy I regained up to 85% of feeling back and now at 9 months later I am almost back at 100%. My doctor said he was amazed because my brain was covered with strokes and it was a miracle I was regaining strength so fast. My PT and OT therapist suggested that I picked up something that I could work with my hands to help work my brain. I continued schooling (which is a lot of typing), and started making specialty wipe boxes, hair bow holders, and hair bows. I decided to start selling them to help pay for my medical bills and finish my education. I decided on the name Little Olive Tree because I have seen God's work in my situation and I will praise him for what he has done. Psalm 52:8-9

God's Grace

"Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil - it has no point."

God's Grace

There once was a man named George Thomas, pastor in a small New England town. One Easter Sunday morning he came to the Church carrying a rusty, bent, old bird cage, and set it by the pulpit. Eyebrows were raised and, as if in response, Pastor Thomas began to speak...."I was walking through town yesterday when I saw a young boy coming
toward me swinging this bird cage. On the bottom of the cage were three little wild birds, shivering with cold and fright. I stopped the lad and asked, "What do you have there, son?" "Just some old birds," came the reply. "What are you going to do with them?" I asked. "Take 'em home and have fun with 'em," he answered. "I'm
gonna tease'em and pull out their feathers to make 'em fight. I'm gonna have a
real good time." "But you'll get tired of those birds sooner or later. What will you
do then?" "Oh, I got some cats," said the little boy. "They like birds.
I'll take 'em to them." The pastor was silent for a moment. "How much do you want for those birds, son?" "Huh?? !!! Why, you don't want them birds, mister. They're just plain old field birds. They don't sing. They ain't even pretty!" "How much?" the pastor asked again. The boy sized up the pastor as if he were crazy and said, "$10?" The pastor reached in his pocket and took out a ten dollar bill. He placed it in the boy's hand. In a flash, the boy was gone. The pastor picked up the cage and gently carried it to the end of the alley where there was a tree and a grassy spot. Setting the cage down, he opened the door, and by softly tapping the bars persuaded the birds out, setting them free. Well, that explained the empty bird cage on the pulpit, and then the pastor began to tell this story: One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting. "Yes, sir, I just caught a world full of people down there. Set me a trap and used bait I knew they couldn't resist. Got 'em all!" "What are you going to do with them?" Jesus asked. Satan replied, "Oh, I'm gonna have fun! I'm gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other, how to hate and abuse each other, how to drink and smoke and curse. I'm gonna teach them how to invent guns and bombs and kill each other. I'm really gonna have fun!" "And what will you do when you are done with them?" Jesus asked. "Oh, I'll kill 'em," Satan glared proudly. "How much do you want for them?" Jesus asked. "Oh, you don't want those people. They ain't no good. Why, you'll take them and they'll just hate you. They'll spit on you, curse you and kill you. You don't want those people!!" "How much? He asked again. Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, "All your blood, tears and your
life." Jesus said, "DONE!" Then He paid the price. The pastor picked up the cage and walked from the pulpit.

It's a GOD thing.

Last night as I was getting ready to put my kids to bed I accidentally shut Cohen's finger in the door. It was awful. The way he screamed instantly we decided to go to the hospital. We had to wait two hours in the waiting room which was fun for Cohen and Kenzie because they found a little boy to play with. On the other hand I was in panic mode making sure the Kids didn't go near people who looked like they had the flu or something contagious. After the two hours of waiting we finally got to go back and see the doctor. His little finger was broke all the way through but it was so bloody and messy it looked as if the nail bed had completely popped out. After three different doctors looked at it they decided to cut his nail open and then try to shove the nail back under the skin. Cohen would have to be awake for all of this so the doctor recommended that I step out side because she has seen many parents pass out and I was already a wreck and she didn't think I would be able to handle it. They said it would take about 20 mins to fix everything. As I was standing outside crying I just started praying.. God are you here?? I need to feel you. I need you and Cohen needs you. Please give him peace. Please do something. I don't want him to suffer. With in 3 mins the doctor came out and was like... We have great news the nail bed is actually intact and we are not going to have to fix it... They just put a lil hole in the nail to drain the blood so it wouldn't hurt as bad. I was so THANKFUL! God is so amazing and answers prayer! Even though Cohen has a very very sore finger I still give God the Glory because he is so faithful in times of need.

Bare Minerals

I feel like I am getting ready to do an infomercial.... but I am really impressed with my make up and I feel like It may work for someone else too! I started using bare minerals this past fall. Every since I have been using it my skin has cleared completely up! I ordered it online and was really impressed with it. It also has great coverage for when you need to cover something up like dark circles or breakouts. I used to hate when my hubby saw me without make up... but now every time he does he compliments on how clear my skin has gotten! There are little boutiques that sell the make up.. There is one in downtown Lexington called Intimate U. It has very nice lingerie and great makeup products.
